When Darren and I first purchased our Spanish town house earlier this year, I’m not sure either of us appreciated the scale of the renovation we had signed up for! Here is a copy of the floor plan of our 3 storey (plus roof terrace) project and our initial ideas for the space.
Initial Floor Plan:
I’ve created a video tour of our town house – you can watch it here
Ground Floor:
Entrance into large open plan hallway / sitting room / chill out area with doors leading to twin bedroom & downstairs shower room. Double doors to patio area with access to downstairs ensuite and self contained annexe in converted stables.
1st Floor:
Ensuite double bedroom. 1st Floor of annexe (not accessed from 1st floor)
2nd Floor:
Huge open plan living space – kitchen, dining and living room in one. Access to family bathroom
Roof Terrace:
Outdoor seating, BBQ and plunge pool on open roof.
How are the plans coming along?
So far, we’ve spent a good couple of months in Spain, and are now back in Pego for another stint. During our last trip, we’ve managed to source building merchants and timber yards, window manufacturers, specialist roofing suppliers, DIY stores, a large ikea, and numerous homeware shops. We’ve even picked up a fair bit of the local lingo (a tad difficult as they speak both Spanish and Valencian) which is great, as they speak very little English.
We’ve replaced the roof on the house and this week have started work on the terrace. We’ve realised there is no way the the terrace will take the weight of a pool. We’ve also realised (OK Darren has told me) that 5 bathrooms are far too many. So now, the upstairs bathroom will now be a shower room come utility with a washing machine, and the downstairs shower room we are considering turning into a kitchenette, in turn making the downstairs double into the self contained annexe.
By knocking through the 1st floor bedroom to the upper stable we want a nice big master bedroom with dressing room and ensuite facilities, and the bath we lost in the family bathroom will find its way here too. And if we leave the ground floor of the stable open, we have room for an undercover pool and gym area.
Of course, this is just the 2nd floor plan idea – who knows what it will be like in the end!
