Our Renovations
To date, we have completed 4 home renovations and the renovation of a shop which we turned into a beautiful ice cream parlour. We are currently renovating a two bedroom town house in Spain which will become our three bedroom holiday home.
In 2008, Darren and I bought our first home, a 3-bedroom semi detached house in Midanbury, Southampton. Ferndene Way was the beautiful house which formed the backdrop for our wedding reception, and the home that inspired our love of renovations...
A year after finishing the renovations of our first home, we began to get bored. It wasn't long before we found Thorold Road, 3-bed semi in the next village. It was a repossession which needed a lot of work - and that was just to clear all the rubbish left behind!
Our 3rd renovation was something a little different to our usual home renovations. After indulging in a glass of wine too many, Darren and I decided it would be a good idea to open an ice cream parlour in our village. In 2014, Dora's Cups & Cones was born...
Back to residential renovations, our 4th project was a 2-bedroom flat in Southampton. We joined forces with my step-dad to buy this very run down property, which came with a thick layer of nicotine on all surfaces and every copy of the Daily Mail from 2009, neatly stacked in piles.
After selling Thorold Road, we struggled to find another house, and with a gap year planned, we plumped for Boston Court, a 1-bed flat which was in a pretty good state. We spent two weeks refreshing the flat before escaping to the continent for an amazing road trip around Europe.
Our current renovation is the biggest and most exciting to date. Earlier this year we bought a 3-storey town house in the vibrant town of Pego, Spain. It's been empty for almost 50 years and needs a lot of work! We have big plans for this big house - I think it's going to be pretty special!
