Penang, Malaysia: A Photo Diary

After our relaxing stay on Koh Bulone, our plan was to spend a few nights in Penang before flying on to Sri Lanka.  We spent 5 nights in George Town, before moving 20 minutes down the road to the beautiful Batu Ferringhi beach area.  We fell in love with the long stretch of golden sand, incredible evening sunsets and the most friendliest people we have ever met.   Yet again, we never made it to Sri Lanka.  Our 5 day stay in Penang stretched to 23 days of thorough relaxation.  I don’t know why we didn’t discover Malaysia sooner!

After 5 days in the UNESCO heritage sites of George Town, we moved to Batu Ferringhi.  I’m not sure where the 3 weeks disappeared to, but we certainly had an incredible time.  The pictures below sum our trip up pretty well.

During our stay in Batu Ferringhi, we stayed in some incredible hotels.  Our favourite was Hard Rock Penang.  We also really enjoyed the Golden Sands Shangri La & Holiday Inn.  Check out booking.com for the best offers.

Great pictures! Looks like an amazing trip. Will have to make some time for Malaysia in the future – more than just a layover.

Thanks! Yeah, it was really lovely in Malaysia – I thoroughly recommend a visit for longer than a layover. I can’t wait to head back!
